TRAVEL CONSULTS

(Exports)

“I am planning on emigrating/travelling with my pets, where do I even begin?”

Export of pets can be an incredibly daunting journey to brave, especially with all the other details you need to remember around the move. We have a detailed understanding of the pet emigration process and are more than willing to assist you through the journey as best we can, though we will always recommend you get a travel agency to help you through the process.

The reason for this is that no country has the same requirements and each travel case needs to be attended to individually. Certain countries have a simpler immigration process than others, and we will assess your case personally and decide together on the best way forward for you and your pets.

We can definitely assist with starting the process in the meantime, whilst you get your ducks in a row, and will help you with the paperwork required. Please also read our article on preparing your pets for export.

How do I go about making a booking?

Step 1: Phone Teva at 021 851 3511 and tell the receptionist that you are looking to emigrate. Alternatively send an email to info@tevavetclinic.co.za with the details of your travel.

Step 2: They will ask you a few questions on where you are planning on travelling to, roughly when you plan on travelling, how many pets, whether they are microchipped, and when they last had their vaccinations. They will also request you to send their vaccination booklets if they have, as well as microchip certificates if they have. Do not fear if you do not have these documents yet, we will assist you in trying to get all of this together.

Step 3: The reception staff will book you a travel consultation with one of our vets, who will guide you through the process. This visit is also usually the first of a few vaccinations, if your pet’s vaccinations are not up to date, as well as a microchip if your pet has not been microchipped. Any questions you may have can also be addressed during this visit. A basic initial veterinary plan will be laid out during this consultation and you will be told when your next visit/vaccination will be due, when the bloodwork needs to be done etc.

Though we will hold your hand through the veterinary procedure and forms, it is important to note that it will still be your responsibility as owner to keep yourself informed on the details of the travel to get your pet from South Africa to your new home.

We will do whatever we can to ensure a true “Bon Voyage”!
